Style Editor

Customize subtitle appearance — font, color, outline, position — before burning subtitles into your video.

Overview

The Style Editor is a dedicated subtitle styling interface. It lets you customize how subtitles look and preview the result before they are permanently burned into the video frames. Your settings are saved as a global style preset that the burn-in export then uses.

How to Open It

Open the Style Editor from the "Style Editor" button on the dashboard. Inside, pick the video you want to style from the video list at the top. It's a good idea to check the subtitle style here before running a burned-in export, especially since different video resolutions may need a different font size.

Interface Layout

The Style Editor is divided into two areas:

Preview Frame

The preview uses a still frame automatically extracted from the selected video. You can also click Upload Cover to use your own image as the preview background. The subtitle is rendered onto the frame the same way it will be burned into the final video, so what you see matches the export (WYSIWYG).

Font Settings

Choose a font from the Font dropdown, which lists common macOS fonts (PingFang, Hiragino Sans GB, STHeiti, STSong, Arial, Helvetica, and more). Adjust the font size using a slider ranging from 12px to 160px. The preview updates in real time as you adjust.

Text Color

Use the color picker to set the subtitle text color. Click the color swatch to open the picker, then choose any color.

Outline (Stroke)

Add an outline around subtitle text to improve readability against busy backgrounds:

Bold

Toggle bold on or off. Bold text can improve readability at smaller sizes.

Bottom Margin (Position)

Use the Bottom margin slider to adjust how far up from the bottom of the frame the subtitles sit. Move subtitles higher or lower to avoid covering important visual content.

Frosted Subtitle Bar

Enable the frosted subtitle bar to add a semi-transparent backdrop behind the subtitles. This combines a blur effect with a dark overlay, significantly improving readability on bright or busy backgrounds.

Tip The frosted bar works especially well for videos with light-colored or visually complex backgrounds where even outlined text can be hard to read.

Subtitle Language

Choose which subtitle language to burn into the video:

Live Preview

The preview area on the right updates in real time whenever you change any style parameter. This lets you fine-tune the look before committing to export.

Style Presets

Your style settings are saved automatically as a global preset and reload the next time you open the Style Editor. You can also manage the preset manually with the buttons at the bottom of the settings panel:

Because the preset is global, it's convenient when burning the same subtitle style into many videos.

Running the Export

The Style Editor itself doesn't burn the video — it saves the style. Once you're happy with the appearance here, go back to the editor and run the burned-in subtitle export. The export uses your saved style preset to render the subtitles into the video frames.
