GeekLink OCR for Windows is live. If you joined the Windows waitlist, you can now download the first Windows build of GeekLink 0.4.4 and extract hardcoded subtitles on a PC. This Windows build is OCR-only for now; speech recognition is not included yet.
What's Included
This first Windows build focuses on one job: extracting hardcoded subtitles with OCR. Import a video that already has subtitles burned into the picture, run OCR, review the extracted text, then export editable subtitle files.
It does not include speech recognition yet. If you need to transcribe spoken audio, use the Mac version for now. The Windows build is for people who told us they wanted GeekLink's hardcoded-subtitle OCR workflow but could not use a Mac.
Why Windows Now
GeekLink started on Mac because we wanted a local desktop workflow for subtitle creators instead of another upload-to-cloud converter. But a lot of OCR subtitle extraction happens on Windows machines too, and many people joined the waitlist specifically to ask for a PC build.
So this is the first step: a Windows OCR build that lets those users pull text out of hardcoded subtitles directly instead of waiting on a Mac version they cannot run.
Tell Us What Breaks
This is the first Windows release, so we want the sharp edges quickly. If something fails to launch, a video does not import, OCR misses the obvious subtitle line, or export behaves differently from what you expected, reply to the launch email or contact us through the site.
We will prioritize the problems that block OCR subtitle extraction: installation, import, subtitle-line detection, OCR accuracy, review, and export.
